"Home Health Care" and "Home Care"

"Home health care" and "home care": how are they different? Although the terms are sometimes used interchangeably, there are significant differences between home health care agencies like Iowa Home Care, and private duty home care businesses. Iowa Home Care, as a home health care agency, provides nursing, therapy, and aide services, under the direction of an ordering physician. These services are typically paid for via insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, and VA. Home care businesses, while they may provide some level of medical skills, are generally companion care oriented, and are typically not covered by insurance. They may be covered by worker’s compensation insurance or long-term care insurance, but most often it is a private pay agreement.
